Deters any play White could have in the center,
and deadens the b2 bishop. Black now has a small
edge because he's able to make some play on the
kingside, whereas White's ill-prepared to do anything
on the queen side. White's central bastion e4 will shortly
be attacked by ... f5, whereas Black's c5 won't experience
b4 any time soon.
